As of November 20, 2007, this button is illegal for use in NHRA Racing . Be sure this is legal in your sanction before purchasing, Click here for the latest NHRA ruling. The 5 – O button is a microswitch activated trans brake button. This button is slower by about 5 hundredths. The total “throw” on the unit is 4-1/2 inches when all the “shims” or spacers removed. At that point the button will be at it’s “slowest” adjustment. If you are too slow, you can add shims, making the “throw” shorter, and the release time faster. There are many shims, that vary in size, so you can take out just what you need to close in on your reaction time. The top is held on by one screw, and adding / removing shims are a snap! The top of the button is over 1 inch in diameter, your thumb can not miss it! The down force required to fully engage the button is very soft and smooth. Release is spring controlled, and is also smooth. ( Click for back view). The total length is 7-3/4 inches, and the width is 1-1/2 inches. Unit is made of composite plastics. Our advice on setting up this button - First make some runs in your car, and react to the bottom bulb as best as you can. If you are redlighting, take the button out of the car, hook it up to any practice tree with our Practice Tree Button Connector. Adjust the set screw to achieve your desired "slower" reaction time, and reinstall.
