Our Racing Team, 2007 Summary, and 2008 Plans
Sal Biondo
The biggest highlight of 2007 for Sal Biondo was winning the JEGS ALLSTAR TITLE in Competition Eliminator with Bill Mayo's - Mayo’s Automotive D/EA Beretta. Thanks to the abundant Eaton Enterprises power, the team pulled off this huge win. On top of winning this race, Sal was part of the overall winning team from Division One (read more). In addition to the "ALLSTAR" win, Sal was also able to strike Gold at TOYO TIRES NATIONALS at Maple Grove Raceway. That was a special win since Pete also won (stock) there, and that marks the third time in 12 years they won that race together. On the National Event circuit, Sal also managed a runner up finish at the Inaugural Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio.
On the Lucas Oil Divisional circuit Sal was able score a Comp Eliminator win at the first event which was crucial to lock up a spot on the JEGS ALLSTAR TEAM. The first Lucas Oil Divisional race started at Richmond and was 'wind' delayed to Maple Grove, and after Sal won the delayed event, he parlayed a runner up finish at the second race held there that weekend. Two finals in the same weekend was alot of fun! Not so much fun, was that the season was hampered by some mid-season bugs in the Beretta, which were not quite worked out until the 2007 season came to a close. Those problems sunk Sal to the bottom of the top 10 in the number 8 position in the Championship Point Standings.

Plans for 2008 are for the “Mayo’s Automotive” Beretta to once again be supplied with abundant Eaton Enterprises power under the hood. Larry King is once again updating the feared Beretta in hopes to get some E.T. back for I/AA and D/EA. A new 'long' car in the wings awaits, and more details will be posted ASAP.
When you add in the tireless efforts of Bill, Sue, Nick, and Stephanie Mayo, Tim Markert, John Gavio, and Larry King, the team has high hopes for 2008. Plans are simply to stay local, and take it from there. They realize that a World Championship takes some skill and a lot of luck, but are willing to give it a try.
Sal will also continue to race Super Stock, and occasionally Stock Eliminator in 2008. Sal will again be racing the Olds Achieva 'Modified' Super Stocker owned by Anthony Bertozzi, and the Biondo and DiLorenzo owned Stock Eliminator Firebird.

Peter Biondo
2007 was very good to Peter Biondo Racing. He started off by winning the Gatornationals and closed out the season winning $32,000 in Las Vegas at the Ultimate Bracket Race weekend in November. Sandwiched in between was 5 NHRA National Event wins, two $10,000 bracket wins, a $5,000 and a dragster dash bracket race win. Halfway through the season, Peter made a late season run at the NHRA World Championship in Stock and Super Stock only to come up 1 round short in both classes and finishing second in both categories. “Finishing second in the world is great, but it was also disappointing to get so close and not win it. And then multiply that by 2 and it was hard to swallow. But it just wasn’t meant to be.” Said Peter.
For 2008, Peter plans sticking with the same wheelstanding 69’ Camaro stocker and motor combination. “We had both motors gone through by Brian Tilburg, and my crew Tom Kurucz has been going through the entire car keeping it updated”, Peter said, “There are so many class cars in A and B stock so you really have to try to stay on top of the performance part of it”. For Super Stock, Peter and Phil Monteith will again be campaigning the beautiful 2007 cobalt of Arnie Martel in SS/BS. As Peter describes “Our round win/ loss ratio definitely improved since we started racing the cobalt in Super Stock. We broke a few times and we are still learning but overall I like it.”

With 12 national events slated for 2008 and a handful of big buck bracket races on the calendar, Peter doesn’t plan to chase the points championship. “12 National events and 8 or 9 big bracket race weekends can fill the year up pretty quickly”, Peter said, “I really enjoy getting to the bracket races and keeping up with that sector of our customer base, which is huge.” In 2008 Peter plans on running his new 2007 Race Tech dragster with an all aluminum PAR built 582 BBC engine that runs 7.30’s at 184. Peter debuted the dragster late season and finished top 5 in the points at both the Moroso and Bradenton Florida bracket points series in November.
Sam Biondo
Sam Biondo won the 2006 "PC RICHARD" Super Stock National Open series points chase, and only attended 4 events. Sam also netted a 6th Place finish in the Lucas Oil Northeast Divisional Points Chase. Along the way, Sam captured a big win in Super Stock at Atco Raceway to help tally up thise points.
For 2007, Sam plans on racing Johnny Duncan's GT/GA Firebird again this season, and also Phillip Monteith's Firebird for 2007. Plans are to get out of the cold, and head down south in the beginning of the year, than hit all the NHRA Division 1 events, and 3 - 4 National events.
Rich, Christa, Nicole, and Lil' Richie plan on running local points, At Englishtown and Atco, and hitting all the local big dollar bracket races in their good looking Mullis - Forrester 4 link dragster. The dragster was painted by J&J Custom paint from Maryland, and the 555 ci motor was built by Scott Albrecht.
