Our Racing Team, 2007 Summary, and 2008 Plans
Sal Biondo
For the second year in a row, the biggest highlight of last season (2008) for Sal Biondo was winning the JEGS ALLSTAR TITLE in Competition Eliminator with Bill Mayo's - Mayo’s Automotive I/AA Beretta. Winning this race automatically qualifies a racer for the next year's event, and they will once agian be headed there with the Larry King built Beretta to give 'em hell. Once again, the abundant "Rick Watters Racing Engines" power, the team pulled off this huge win. On top of winning this race, Sal was part of the overall winning team from Division One. Mid season, an awesome Kurt Fleischmann "Pro Start Race Car" dragster was debuted, and ran strong. The dragster was awarded "Best Engineered" at it's first race, and is currently in the wings awaiting to hit the strip again soon. The dragster has enormous potential. 2009 COMP Eliminator plans are being made month to month due to family and business obligations for car owner and driver.

Another big highlight for 2008 was winning the first $10,000 Stock - Super Stock Race held in the Northeast at Atco Raceway. The Anthony Bertozzi owned Achieva went the distance for Sal to bring home the "BIG CHECK".

Sal will also be cometing in Stock Eliminator with the Biondo and DiLorenzo owned Stock Eliminator Firebird. Sal also plans on running about 6 races in Bill Hawk's "Hawk & Cook" 1967 Ford Shelby Mustang. Sal said running the car has been fun, as he ran a few races at the end of last year, and enjoys the wheelstands!
Peter Biondo
After closing out 2008 with the Ultimate Gamblers Race win in Vegas, Peter reflected on the season. “I decided in 2008 to make a change in my racing career. After chasing the NHRA points for over a decade, I decided to forego the points races and use the time to go to high dollar bracket race weekends and at the same time still go to some NHRA national events.” Peter stuck with his plan and it proved to be productive reaching the finals in 4 NHRA National Events and winning 3 of them. He also had one of his better seasons in NHRA Bracket Racing winning 2 $10,000 to win races, a $25,000 to win race, getting R/U in another $20,000 to win race and capping the year off with a R/U in Vegas in a Race Tech/ Madcap motor shootout and winning the $42,000 Winner-Take-All Ultimate Gamblers Bracket Race. The “close but no cigar” event of the season had to be the Million Dollar Bracket Race in Memphis TN where Peter reached round 7 only to lose by the miniscule margin of 0001. As heartbreaking as it was, Peter managed to rebound that same weekend by winning a 64 car, $1000 to enter race which awarded Peter a brand new American Race Cars dragster, a new Reher and Morrison 565 motor and a new TCI trans and converter.

Looking ahead to 2009, Peter looks forward to the challenge of following the same schedule. “This type of schedule is nice because it gives me some time off from racing which is nice. It’s exciting and also very challenging. Racing at this level means that every time I stage up, the competition is top notch.” Tom Kurucz, Peter’s crew chief, gutted and overhauled the familiar A/SA 69’ camaro. Tom, along with Mark Osterbye, replaced the roll bar with a full cage. “The Camaro likes to leave with the wheels in the air and Tom figured tying the chassis together from front to back would be a good idea for both safety and consistency”, said Peter, “Tom also did some other upgrades to the car to improve both looks and performance”. Peter looks forward to competing at 10-12 NHRA National Events with the stocker as well as super stock with a combination of some races in Arnie Martel’s SS/BS cobalt and some with the familiar ”Hatari” Pontiac of longtime friend and partner Phillip Monteith. Besides the NHRA races, Peter plans on hitting some big dollar bracket races again using his black 2007 Race Tech Dragster which continues to be powered by a 582 BBC PAR racing engine. Peter enjoys racing the dragster “Scott from PAR built a motor that has plenty of power and at the same time is reliable and deadly consistent.” Chris Wilson and Rod-Not (Anthony Bertozzi’s crew chief) help with the maintenance on the dragster. The variety in the racing gives Peter a chance to stay informed on what’s going on with the bracket racing market as well as the NHRA racing market and stay in tune with Biondo racing’s customers.

Sam Biondo
Sam Biondo plans on taking it easy in 2009, and running the familiar HATARI Pontiac Firebird owned by Phillip Monteith. The word circulating the pits is, Sam declined the opportunity to drive Bill Hawk's Mustang since he was slightly afraid of the "high altitudes" the car is capable of!! Sam pushed for Sal to get in the seat instead.
Rich Schreiner
Rich, Christa, Nicole, and Lil' Richie plan on running local points at Englishtown and Atco, and hitting all the local big dollar bracket races, and may even touch on some Top Dragster in Division 1. This battle will be with their good looking Mullis - Forrester 4 link dragster. The dragster was painted by J&J Custom paint from Maryland, and the 555 ci motor was built by Scott Albrecht.
